A Story of Not Paying Attention:
scarf kit has the pattern on the ball band. I had knit one from Rowan that
was very similar to this one so I did not look at the pattern. I slipped the first stitches on my needles
and proceed to knit until I ran out of yarn (without ever looking at the
pattern). The pattern calls for using 2
skeins but when I finished with the one I had a lovely ruffle scarf that was
46" long which I felt was plenty long enough. I took it to the show, told
everybody about this great yarn and how one skein was enough without
realizing that I had knit it differently then the pattern on the ball band.
If you follow the pattern on the ball band you will need 2 skeins and the
ruffle will be very big and round. I have included instructions on how I
did the one you see on the right.
We made this by arm knitting 3 stitches until we had enough to cast off and make
a tail. we knotted the tail. This will make an interesting piece to wear under a
coat in the neck opening. It would be warm and very soft and make a fun gift.
Cost only $9.95 and takes about 10 to 15 minutes to make.
